Synopsis
Inspired by the French painter Georges Seurat’s painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Sunday in the Park with George contains some of Stephen Sondheim’s most beautiful music. The story revolves around George, a fictionalized version of Seurat, who immerses himself deeply in painting his masterpiece, and his great-grandson (also named George), a contemporary artist struggling to find his way to creating something new. One of the most acclaimed musicals of our time, Sunday in the Park with George won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and was nominated for an astounding 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
