Hit The Wall - University of Iowa Mainstage - 2020
|
On a typical hot and humid New York City night in the summer of ‘69, a diverse group of queer outcasts gathers at The Stonewall Inn. However, on this night, when the police show up for a routine raid, all are thrust into the frontlines of history...
Hit the Wall was perhaps my most favorite show to date to be able to work on. As the Assistant Sound Designer/A-1, I put together a Qlab file and adjusted during tech, and mixed 16 actors and 5 band members on a Yamaha M7CL-32. This was my first large scale show to mix, which taught me a lot about console programming, eq, scene layout, sequence planning, script preparation, and much more. I also learned about a huge piece of LGBTQ+ history, The Stonewall Riots.

Sunday in the Park with George - University of Iowa Mainstage - 2019
|
Inspired by the French painter Georges Seurat’s painting A Sunday on La Grande Jatte, Sunday in the Park with George contains some of Stephen Sondheim’s most beautiful music...
Sunday in the Park with George was my first experience with live sound mixing and management. As the Assistant Sound / A2 / Orchestra Manager, I spent a lot of time observing Bri Atwood, our mixer, and a lot of time managing the orchestra. My big goal from this show was to learn as much as I could about live sound, which Bri helped a lot with. I got to shadow her and see how she approaches and executes a show. I was able to do some very minor mixing of the orchestra, I also operated Qlab during the Chromolume sequence. This show really gave me a great base line for mixing large scale musicals.

The Great Gamble - Audiobook - 2020
Two distinctive FBI agents embark on a classified operation (The Biggest Secret in America) into the gambling battlefield which is bleeding into the corrupt empire of athletics. Will the FBI uncover the truth that could shock the nation?
Written by David L. Bluder and narrated by Joe Osheroff, this book was a great project for me to work on. It gave me some more experience in the studio with recording and editing, and allowed me to really focus on my skills in Pro Tools. Joe really took the lead on this book, with it being over 80 chapters he spent a lot of time in the recording booth. He also edited a significant portion of the book so I can only take about 1/3 of the credit here. Listen to our recording of Chapter 1 below.

Ascend - University of Iowa Mainstage - 2021
|
Climb, take off, soar… Rise to a higher point and at the same time, go toward the beginning, go back in time…
Ascend was a beautiful show I had the opportunity to work on as an Audio/Video Technician. Although not a part of the Creative Team, I was able to mix the audio provided to our livestream. Because this show also had an in-person audience, we utilized Dante to send audio from our Front of House Yamaha M7CL to our livestream mix setup, which then sent audio to the livestream. Using Dante, we were able to send up to 32 channels of digital audio to our Pro Tools computer, which I was able to mix for our livestream audience, then send via a MOTU interface to the livestream. This proved a challenge due to Pro Tools having a 32 channel max, so I had to use matrices to combine tracks in order to receive audio from Dante, and send audio via the MOTU all in one Pro Tools session. You can listen to a brief recording from the beginning of the show below.
